symbiotic green algae

Introduction

The "symbioticgreenalgae "has been created to connect in a more active and cooperative way all scientists and amateurs working on symbiotic green algae worldwide, with special focus on green algae present in the lichen symbioses, the phycobionts.

Studies on lichen phycobionts extends form morphological to molecular ones and in the past few years enormous step forward have been done to understand their biology and diversity.

These results represent now the starting board for our future projects. We believe that a stronger network of cooperation among lichenologists, phycologists, physiologists, biochemists and genetists is of key importance to target more specifically questions to understand symbiotic interactions and their diversity. This webpage offers you a user friendly platform on which you can upload texts, micro- and macrophotographs or start discussions in a blog section.
The data sharing and the blog are controlled by the administrators though a log-in interface and are reserved to registered users only. The possibility to consult previous unpublished data and to contact directly the colleagues will enable faster comparison and interpretation of own data and exchange of information.

The complexity of lichen symbioses: Novel interdisciplinary approaches from genomic to functional perspectives.

Lichens are complex symbiotic systems, in which coexistence occurs between several microalgal taxa and/or

stress. Furthermore, certain communities of non-photosynthetic...
